BOC Network's Child Care Business Development Project is proud to announce a major collaboration with the City University of New York's (CUNY) Early Childhood Development Professional Development Institute (PDI). This partnership has already impacted participants at seven training sites throughout NYC, helping home-based child care providers enhance the quality of their childcare programs.
In collaboration with BOC Network, PDI completed the development of a four part series focused on early childhood development that has been added to the existing 45-hour "Child Care Means Business" training curriculum. The "Child Care Means Business" training incorporates best practices in early childhood development to provide high quality child care support services.

Since 2003, BOC Network has developed and managed an exceptionally successful project to support the development of home-based child care businesses. The "Child Care Means Business" training helps child care providers succeed in establishing a business that provides a living wage, stable employment, and high quality child care services. The enhanced 55-hour training helps low-income women start and expand their businesses, gaining financial literacy, marketing, management and early childhood development skills.
The addition of PDI's childhood development material builds on the Child Care Business Development Project's support for professional development that is competency-based and focused on building a knowledge base of child development, introducing observation skills and creating a developmentally-appropriate practice. The additional curriculum enables participants to take additional steps on their career ladder and position themselves powerfully in the marketplace to maximize their income.
